Beatrix Potter figurines Peter Rabbit figurines collectibles

Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit figurines are a lovely gift idea that may actually appreciate in value. Even if this is not the case, a gift basket filled with a storybook, a onesie and some collectibles will make a nice impression at the baby shower.

If you are indeed buying Beatrix Potter figurines for a baby's nursery or a child's bedroom you may want to include the gift of a shadowbox or wall shelves unless mom has shelving where the collection of porcelain figurines can be kept out of baby's reach. It would be so sad if the gift that included in your special gift basket presents a danger to the child it was intended to delight or if it was broken.

Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit figurines
that represent the beloved storybook characters are one of my favorite gifts to give because they are long lasting (under the right circumstances) and once they are discontinued the figurines become even more collectible. I love the pretty pastel colors of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit figurines and plush toys, but if your friend is not a collector, consider giving sterling silver or inexpensive pewter figurines so that the baby can hold them and enjoy them without worry.

There's always a place for a few more Winnie the Pooh decorative gift items and accessories for kids. Pooh wooden wall shelves with pegs is just another creative way to display pictures of our favorite characters and provide some much needed storage in the process. A crafty mom can use the wood shelf to display her classic Pooh figurines and collectibles and the pegs will get baby's jacket and hat off the back of the Winnie the Pooh child size rocker.

A pretty Pooh bear shelf with just the right arrangement of Winnie the Pooh and friends wall stickers or decals will make a lovely focal point for a child's bedroom wall. There are lots of stickers that will coordinate just as beautifully with plain white wall paint as it does with a background of wallpaper and wallpaper border.

I'm sure that if you tried hard enough you could figure out how to make a teepee out of a bed sheet without instructions. All it takes is five poles and enough material to cover them. You can even make a teepee with the poles made out of carefully rolled newspaper and then cover them by stapling paper plates over them in layers. The supply list consists of newspapers, paper plates, staples and rubber bands. If you want to make your teepee look like a real Indian dwelling you can then paint some designs on the paper. That's the quick and easy way to make a teepee. It's not the sturdiest or the most waterproof method, but very inexpensive.

I'm a big fan of the educational value of a do it yourself crafts projects, but if you are short on time get a teepee kit. Why waste precious time gathering old bed sheets, straight tent poles and paint supplies when you can buy everything you need for authentic Indian teepee construction for a cheap price. You can even order different sizes from 6 feet tall at the center to 7 and half feet tall.

Teepees are an excellent room decoration for a cowboys and Indian theme bedroom. You can put it to good use as early you like! Tuck it into the corner of the baby's nursery and use it for toy storage. Later on you will be so glad that you have it on hand for rainy day activities.

father christmas holiday vacuum cleaner cover

A snowman or Santa Claus Christmas vacuum cleaner cover might seem like an unusual gift for a new mom. But for the lady who had to compact her household in preparation for the arrival of a new family member, it makes a lot of sense. The close will probably be stuffed with baby items for awhile and then the kids' toys will need a place to go, so storage in these homes is at a premium especially during the holiday season. No matter what your preference might be in Christmas decorations crafters have got you (and your vacuum cleaner) covered. There are Christmas vacuum cleaner covers in Nutcracker designs, vintage Father Christmas or Santa Claus styles as well as Frosty the Snowman.

Of course, you can benefit from this handy spacesaving gadget year round. If you have an upright vaccuum or an electric broom, you may want to buy up an inventory of styles that will work for every holiday and season of the year. You can also make your own from a pattern that Simplicity offers in their craft section.

You can order bunny covers that will be cute as can be for Easter and change its dress when the 4th of July, Thanksgiving or Valentine's Day rolls around. No matter what style of decor or room theme that you may have, there is a vacuum cleaner cover out there that will blend with your decor. For the log cabin or cottage at the lake pick up a rustic black and brown bear cover.

I'm sure that if you are crafty and know the ins and outs of a sewing machine or serger that you could make your own patterns. There's a nifty idea for you work at home moms! Start your own cottage industry with a line of themed, custom made to order vacuum covers and offer these as unique baby Christmas gift ideas that will be appreciated by the mom on your Christmas list with no closet space in her nursery.

Standing Elephant with Sound - Large

Stuffed zoo animals used to just sit there until they came to life in my imagination. When I was a kid, the stuffed animals in my bedroom were my rainy day pals when all the children in my neighborhood were stuck with their noses pressed against the window glass. If I got into trouble and was confined to my room as punishment my stuffed toys were my allies and didn't mind a bit that I dried my tears on their plush fur coats.

Toys have come a long way in a very short time. Once upon a time teddy bears and sock monkeys ruled the roost and now the list of exotic animals that are UNavailable is shorter than the list of the animals that are in the stores. If you are in the market for a giant red eyed tree frog, you are in luck! Not only are most endangered species memorialized as toys for kids, but you might be able to get one big enough for your baby to ride on! Rocking horses are still around, but there are lots of other cute animals on rockers, too!

Rocking Plush Elmer Elephant with Sound

I think my current favorite would have to be the giant stuffed elephant with sound capabilities. The soft gray elephant can be arranged in lots of different poses for your child's entertainment. With the addition of some lions, tigers and a performing seal or two, your baby could have his own three ring circus in his bedroom or nursery!

Sparkly Babies Elephant in Purple

So what if pink elephants have developed a less than super reputation? I'm all in favor of giant, plush pachyderms complete with realistic plush ivory tusks but sometimes we want toys that are just cute! Educational toys certainly have their place in the toybox, but a sparkly purple elephant doll is a whole lot of fun and sometimes the learning process has to be entertaining as well as mind expanding.

Laura Ashley Mini-Chandelier

Cute girls' mini-chandeliers and little girls rooms go hand in hand! If you know a mom that is in the process of giving her daughter's bedroom a makeover, here's a really cool baby gift idea. Why not give the gift of an attractive source of lighting? New parents might not have the decorating budget to update that old light fixture and a petite chandelier that matches the rooms decor would be a truly unique and greatly appreciated gift.

What better place to hang pretty purple crystal chandeliers resplendant in shining diamond like beads. The problem with most chandeliers is that they are manufactured as lighting for large areas of the home and most contemporary bedrooms (unless you are lucky enough to have a vaulted ceiling that will support a big light fixture) are moderate to small in the amount of square footage department.

To decorate a small baby's room, you will need one of the mini crystal chandeliers so that it won't look out of proportion in comparison to the size of the room and the scale of the baby's furnishings. You won't have to give up a bit of decorative charm or visual drama with a small pendant or petite chandelier and I promise that the visitors to your baby's room will be amazed at how beautifully your lighting sparkles.

You might even be lucky enough to find some other purple crystal accessories to go with your purple crystal chandelier like elegant crystal wall sconces, drawer pulls or door knobs.

Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit storybooks and gift baskets are wonderful gift ideas for kids whether they are still being held and read to in their mother's arms or whether they are school age and reading the books on their own! Combine the entire series or a single book of the Tales of Peter Rabbit with a plush stuffed Beatrix Potter animal or toy for a lovely presentation for most any special occasion or to use as room decorations for a toddler or preschool age child.

Columbia Kids - Bugaboo Parka (Little Kids) (Pea Pod/Palm/Palm) - Kids'

Does anybody know if Bugaboo strollers and Bugaboo outerwear by Columbia are connected in any way? I honestly don't think that the two companies have anything in common other than names and the fact that they both produce extremely durable, well made products for kids.

Many moms believe that a cheap jacket or coat is the best way to outfit a baby boy or girl because they outgrow them so quickly. To those mothers I say that the resale value of Columbia Bugaboo winter coats will make them seem relatively inexpensive especially since they wear like iron and wash like a dream. I have resold many Columbia parkas and got close to what I had paid for them brand new in the stores! If you can find Columbia clothing for kids at a discount, you may get MORE than you paid.

Peter Rabbit - Peter Rabbit - Coffee Gift Baskets

Here are some great ideas for some cute Peter Rabbit theme items to tuck into a baby boy's gift basket. We also have some suggestions for how to make a gift basket with some nice things for mom that give a nod to her baby boy's nursery theme.

The basket is important! No matter what you put inside your baby gift basket, the basket is the first thing that catches the eye. You can pick up a sturdy (but cheap) basket in the crafts section of your favorite discount store. Don't let the color stop you if you like the design, you can spray paint it and stencil cute designs on it to your heart's content.

Once you get your basket ready, here are some cute Peter Rabbit gifts that mom and baby will adore!

  • Peter Rabbit Coffee Mugs
  • Peter Rabbit Mouse Pads for the Computer
  • Peter Rabbit Snowflake Christmas Ornaments
  • Peter Rabbit Tote Bags
  • Peter Rabbit Refrigerator Magnets
  • A package of greeting Cards, invitations or thank you notes

precious moments collectible figurines retired value

If you are looking for a long lasting gift for a new baby, why not give a gift that is collectible, long lasting and may increase in value? Unique, collectible figurines are the perfect gift because they

  • Look good on a shelf
  • You can get them in lots of shapes and sizes
  • They will still be around when baby grows up because moms don't let babies play with breakable objects
  • Collectible figurines may gain in value
  • Classic designs never go out of style
  • You can add to the collection as most designer collections add pieces every year

Some of the high end collectible figurines are produced by companies that have been around for many years like Lenox (famous for china). If you don't have the budget to collect expensive porcelain figurines, there are cute and yet inexpensive pieces that are very popular with collectors like the Precious Moments line and Disney.

People love to collect Precious Moments angels figurines or animal, bird and whimsical shapes. Many times the unusual and odd pieces with slight flaws are more desireable so they make excellent gifts that increase in value.

If you have a unique figurine you'd like to share, please leave a comment at Unique Baby Gifts Baskets, Kids Stuff and Party Ideas and we'll arrange to feature some pictures and history here.

Pretty pink and black polka dots fit nicely in an infant's nursery or even in a toddler girl's bedroom. If those pretty dots are combined with purple, black and are decorating the back of their favorite insect, so much the better! Pretty pink ladybug rugs that are large enough to make a decorative impact on the bedroom decor are rare, that's why this one cut out in a ladybug pattern is so special!

There are rectangular area rugs with ladybugs that might work better depending on the size of the area you are working with that have cute borders and arrangements of colorful ladybugs in the center. Many of these carpets are designed to match bedding collections for children, so why not decorate the entire bedroom in one clean sweep?

WHY IS CAMO BABY STUFF SO POPULAR? Cool Camouflage Baby Clothes, Shoes and Gift Sets

Baby camouflage clothing is everywhere …when camo moved out of the hunting community onto the chic streets of cities that put the word “trendy” on the map; I thought the designers would tire of it quickly. Then came pink camouflage for baby girls and olive green drab camouflage print fabrics for baby boys.

To make a long story short, the camouflage baby clothing craze is still with us as well as camo baby bedding and decorative crib accessories! I know when to surrender and jump on the wagon of current fashion, so here are some precious little camo baby buntings and clothing sets as well as moccasins for babies that tickled me and that I’m sure will bring you on board.

Camouflage in all colors and patterns are jumping out in the oddest places of the home, so why not the baby’s nursery? Who are we to judge and deny American babies the opportunity to join in the fun?

I have tried to figure out why camouflage baby clothes and outfits for kids are so darn popular. What has traditionally been a utility fabric has gone haute couture and this has been a fact for so many years while other designs have gone by the wayside. Normally, bold, funky prints make a big presentation and then burn out and disappear as quickly as they appeared.

As wild as the many camo patterns may be, they have stuck with us for several years and appear to be gaining in popularity rather than fading into the background. Is this because so many parents are hunting wild game or is the trend due to the fact that so many families are involved in the military? Whatever the reason, there’s camouflage clothing out there for your kids in every color scheme imaginable.

Baby bunting in camo patterns may be one of my favorites. Those baby boys and girls look so precious bundled up in snuggly fleece with their hoods framing their sweet faces regardless of the print or color of the fabric. Baby bunting on many outings is so much more convenient than a coat or jacket because it is so easy to pop baby into the little sack or coveralls. Buntings don't bunch up when you buckle infants into their car seats either.

Columbia makes a quality product and I have used their fleece suits for my baby girls that have resold on auction for almost as much as I paid for them new! Anytime I can sell high end baby stuff on auction with success, I pat myself on the back. I feel that I'm dressing my babies in luxury for free!

baby gap faux fur coat capelet jacket

baby gap faux fur coat boots booties

There's a chill in the air and it's time to bundle baby up in faux fur. What an excellent opportunity to dress my baby up from head to toe in a stylish hooded capelet and fur trim boots.
Baby GAP
is one of my favorite brands or designers when it comes to baby clothes, coats and hats and their inexpensive fur items are some of the softest which makes them the best.

If you want your infant to be warm as well as stylish, faux chinchilla jackets in sparkling colors of blue and pink in addition to the snow white styles will be hard to resist. Even if you don't live in an area where the weather is cold enough for snow, faux fur baby capelets, boots, coats and hats a pretty velvet baby Christmas dress will make a cute combination for baby's 1st Christmas portrait shoot.

When your sweet baby girl feels the soft fur on her cheek there may be no need to beg her to pretty please put her arms in the sleeves of her jacket or for her to not take her hat off! You might think that such a beautiful jacket would be a luxury item, but
baby faux fur
coats are very inexpensive (read: CHEAP!). Please remember that modern fabrics are machine washable and relax while baby wears them out to try her hand as snow skiing or to ride the sled down the hill. Even the quilted satin jackets that are trimmed with faux fur can be tossed into the wash with no problems.

If you have a Christmas shopping list that includes toddler or baby girls, don't miss the chance to make a lasting impression for a cheap price! Faux fur coats will make a fabulous gift especially if you include a matching set of mittens and a winter hat of faux fur lined in satin. No matter what designer outfit that she happens to be wearing under her baby faux fur outerwear, she will be the best dressed kid on the slopes!

first Christmas memorable and delightful.

Curious George Bike Jerseys, Baby Clothes and More

It's lots of fun to dress up like a monkey for parties or Halloween, but what about the rest of the year? Curious George makes it easy for us to clown around with monkeys on our clothes or dress the baby up in clothes with pictures of monkeys on them!

For the tweens or teens, there's a huge demand for Curious George bike jerseys', t-shirts and yoga clothes and for infants the style extends to bibs and onesies! Take a look at the Curious George products and apparel for children of all ages. Don't let your kids be left out of the Curious George clothing craze!

We are all looking for the perfect Christmas gift for the new baby in our lives. Perhaps the older child that's just learning to love books or read needs a fun and colorful storybook to tweak his or her curiosity and we have just the little monkey to take care of that! Curious George checks in in a big way wearing his signature big yellow hat that has made babies laugh for quite some time!

You can also pick up a Curious George collectible Christmas book that will be a favorite all year round! Why limit the good storybooks to the holidays? We all can use the occasional boost in spirits that comes from reading a heartwarming Christmas story whether the calendar says that it's the right time of year or not.

Merry Christmas Curious George

Here we have a virtual treasure trove of Curious George birthday party supplies that may not be available in your local stores. Why waste valuable time venturing out to fight the crowds in the party store at the mall when you can save time shopping online. Many times I find that birthday party supplies are cheap online in comparison to the items that I see locally plus the selection of mailorder merchandise is endless.

If you are having a birthday party and love monkeys, I recommend that you put your Curious George birthday party decorating ideas to good use with some inexpensive (read: cheap), colorful decorations printed with storybook characters that children are familiar with. I love the festive, eye-catching bright red, yellow and brown colors that are so recognizable from the Curious George books, don't you?

If your child's bedroom theme or perhaps the baby's crib bedding set is a Curious George theme, it's makes sense for you to pick up Curious George birthday party supplies that feature your favorite storybook monkey. It tickles kids to see decorations based on cartoon characters that they easily recognize from their favorite books and television shows.

What better way to send a message to your guests that any gifts in this theme would be more than welcome than to announce the festivities using themed party invitations that come with a complete kit? If you are on a limited budget you might want to see what's available in Curious George birthday party supplies and cake toppers that are part of a complete kit.

Curious George baby shower and party kits take the guesswork out of mixing and matching plates, cups and tableware and will save you a considerable amount of cash on your invitations and decorations, too! I just saw some baby Winnie the Pooh Scrapbooks that might just inspire me to take up the craft. I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to scrapbooking, I'm a procrastinator. I do have quite a bit of experience with Winnie the Pooh and all of the gang from the 100 Acre Woods so I know that I want to do some artwork and crafts in a classic Pooh Bear theme. Could it be that this Winnie the Pooh scrapbook might be a good start?

The ones that I saw have Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore pictures on the front jacket and it's supposed to be acid free so it won't damage my photographs. My question is whether or not the album will be large enough for all my Winnie the Pooh baby stuff that I have managed to collect and save. It's only 12 inches square with 20 pages and that's pretty small compared to the box that I have my baby shower invitations, thank you cards and other stuffed stored in.

Sunday, November 18, 2007

There are lots of ways to jazz up baby's bathtime but a Winnie the Pooh Baby Bath Mit is both fun and functional! Babies don't always take to water like little ducks, so it's good to have a few familiar faces to welcome them to the activity.
The cute bathtub, mit and matching towel are handy to both bathe and wrap the baby after you scrub them up fresh and clean. If you want to carry the classic Winnie the Pooh bathroom decor a step further, there's a unique single lever or wide spread Winnie the Pooh Bathroom faucet ready to install along with the rest of the 100 Acre Woods stuff!

The pretty yellow gift set will work for a baby boy or a baby girl and has a vintage look that is so sweet! If you'd prefer to have a Winnie the Pooh bath set in green or you don't happen to live or shop in the UK, there are inexpensive options for you as well!

Winnie the Pooh Party Supplies

Who says that Winnie the Pooh party supplies are at best boring or at worst, scarce as hens teeth? One of my friends who has been given the honor of hosting a Pooh Bear baby shower has searched both high and low and has had difficulties finding tableware as well as games and decorations for the party that suit her taste in shower decorations.

I offered to help as some of my resources for baby stuff sell decorative items in popular themes for children's birthday parties. I thought that some of these decorations might work for showers, too. Just when the hostess was about to give it up, I recommended that she take a look in one of the birthday party supply stores for some Classic Pooh baby stuff and lo and behold, she was not disappointed.

They had Winnie the Pooh party games as well as paper plates, wall and ceiling decorations. The cupcake toppers are cute as can be, too! The party games will be nice to entertain the older kids and the adults who are young at heart during the shower and the Winnie the Pooh party supplies are very attractive and entirely suitable for a shower as well as a kid's birthday party celebration.

The lesson we have learned is that party decorations can often be used to decorate the tables, walls and doors for baby showers and vice versa. Winnie the Pooh party supplies are especially versatile.

Return to Unique Baby Gifts Baskets, Kids Stuff and Party Ideas and Decorations to see more of our recommendations on thinking outside the box when hosting a party of any kind.

Here's a pic of the coordinating fabric swatch of the set that's been discontinued and is on sale. You could get the crib set and enough of the fabric so that you could sew your own nursery rocker replacement cushions to match baby bedding set and sew an easy window valance or other nursery window treatments.

A complete set of safari baby bedding or jungle print baby crib bedding in zebra print is hard to find at a super discount, so enjoy!

Vintage Nursery Themes Decorating Ideas

I just visted a friend's nursery that gave me some vintage nursery themes decorating ideas for a baby girl's room. If you're an antique lover, you would have been amazed at the beautiful things that she had done with a mix of antiques and vintage items. She had used

  • Floor length nursery window treatments with lots of ruffles and bows
  • Decorator fabrics with huge, old-timey pink cabbage roses

The room had an Old English cottage or Victorian feel. What a lovely bedroom it was! But to make it work, you would need a room with plenty of square footage, high ceilings and lots of windows to keep the room from having a stuffy, dark atmosphere.
Another mistake that many decorators make is to use far too many yards of fabric in the window treatments. Under most circumstances, all those ruffles would just be too heavy and claustrophibic. If you just had to have that style of draper, position the curtains close to the ceiling to add height to the room.

The techniques for painting the walls should be kept simple.
Light colors like cream according to the fabric print would brighten the room. If want to try your hand at combining prints and colors, a stripe alternating mauve, pink and cream would be stunning.

Accessories that would mix well with a vintage theme would be anything tea stained or with faded prints of cabbage roses edged in ivory eyelet or lace. Return to Unique Baby Gifts Baskets, Decorations and Party Decorating Ideas for more vintage nursery themes decorating ideas.
